Early Life and Career
Joe Biden was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania on November 20, 1942. He graduated from the University of Delaware and Syracuse University Law School. After serving as a public defender, he was elected to the New Castle County Council in 1970. He was elected to the U.S. Senate in 1972, and served as a senator from Delaware for 36 years.
Vice Presidency
Biden was elected Vice President of the United States in 2008 alongside Barack Obama. He served as Vice President for two terms, from 2009 to 2017.
Presidency
Biden announced his candidacy for the 2020 presidential election in April 2019. He won the Democratic nomination and was elected President of the United States in November 2020. He was sworn into office on January 20, 2021.

Biden has been married to Jill Biden since 1977. He has three children: Beau, Hunter, and Ashley. Beau died of brain cancer in 2015.
